"Everything Goes" Quilt-Along Week Two

Updated: May 9, 2021

Week Two - 3-9 Dec, 2020

ARE YOU READY TO SEW??!!

Firstly, I apologise for the confusion around the hashtag not being able to be followed - Instagram & politics... Anyway, fingers crossed this will change soon. I will keep reposting all of your posts on the @everythinggoes_qal in the meantime, so be sure to follow that account for the time being.

It's time to start the stitching fun - sewing your blocks. We're aiming for slow & steady, holiday friendly scrappy sewing. It's officially December, so pop on some of your favourite tunes (Christmas or not), & settle yourself in for some mindless, easy, colourful stitching. Remember not to overthink your strip choices - mix it up, try some uglies, try some oldies, try some big prints, try some little prints. Variety is the key, the more colour & print the merrier. It's more about having some contrast between your strips - I found that my most successful blocks had a good balance of contrast, & a good mix of this & that.

This week's Instagram homework:

  1. style a colourful picture of your favourite four blocks so far

  2. share the picture on Instagram, & tell us about what you like about them - is it a special fabric, the colours, or the combination of prints? I can't wait to see!

  3. important: remember to use the hashtag #everythinggoesquilt in your post - I will then share it to our QAL Insta page (@everythinggoes_qal)

This week's "Everything Goes" target:

  1. start making your blocks - target is 14 blocks (there are 113 in total, so over the next nine weeks you'll need to average 14 blocks per week - we have an optional week off for Christmas & New Year's holidays)

  2. your Instagram homework (above)

Week One Giveaway Winner: @tepiduck - congratulations Johanna! I'll be in touch to organise sending your Kaffe Fassett charm pack.

I can't wait to see all of your blocks! Remember to follow the hashtag #everythinggoesquilt (instructions on how to do so were in my first QAL blog post) - this is how you can see everyone else's makes, connect with other QAL makers & learn new ideas.

From These Clever Hands, to Yours...
